You can't truly grasp the magical town of Boulder, Colorado until you visit it. Eclectic, stunningly beautiful, environmentally responsible, and intellectual, Boulder is backed by vaulted, red rock slates, known as the Flatirons. It bumps up against the foothills in one of nature-meets-town's grandest fashions. Natural surroundings imbue Boulder, long giving it a reputation as one of the nation's outdoor sports capitals. Impeccably maintained hiking trails, climbing walls and river rapids appear at every turn.

The brick, pedestrian-only Pearl Street Mall in Boulder is perfect for a day of boutique shopping and munching at adorable bistros. Local Boulder galleries display a range of high-quality finds produced by a large community of local artists. For the essence of Boulder and a latte, head to one of the many coffee houses and bookstores at the west end of the mall. And on "the hill," just south of downtown Boulder, you'll find the renowned University of Colorado (CU).

Other interesting Boulder ventures include the Celestial Seasonings (tea) factory, Chautauqua Park (and its concert and lecture series), Colorado Shakespeare Festival, and The Boulder Creek Trail.

Boulder Activities

Boulder Creek Path Length: 7 miles one way
Difficulty: Easy
Elevation Gain: 5,200 to 5,800 feet
Estimated Time: 1 hour Location: Downtown Boulder The Boulder Creek Path stretches seven miles from east Boulder, near Valmont Reservoir, to the western end of town where Boulder Canyon and Fourmile Canyon intersect. This trail parallels Boulder creek as it runs east through the heart of Boulder and out into the plains. The trail, dirt and gravel for its upper few miles, is paved from the base of Boulder Canyon until its end at 55th Street. The path is very popular with bicyclists, rollerbladers, joggers and walkers, and the occasional kayaker hiking his boat up to the kayak course, so don't expect much solitude. You should expect a beautiful ride along scenic Boulder creek, with many benches and parks where you can stop and rest or have a nice picnic.

Rocky Mountain National Park
Covering over four hundred fifteen square miles of rugged mountain wilderness, Rocky Mountain National Park is truly one of Nature's special places. At least 60 mountains in Rocky exceed 12,000 feet, topping off at 14,255 feet on the football field-sized summit of Longs Peak. The mountains provide Rocky Mountain National Park with its sense of wonder and inspiration. Only 45 minutes from Boulder 970.586.1206
